The new Shipman Youth Zone is a modern facility designed to provide a vibrant and inclusive space for young people. Featuring multi-purpose rooms, recreational areas, and dedicated zones for learning and community engagement, the centre fosters creativity, collaboration, and personal development.

Its design prioritises sustainability, incorporating energy-efficient systems and environmentally friendly materials. The project achieved a BREEAM Rating of Outstanding and is also a Net Zero Carbon building.

The structural design of the Shipman Youth Zone features a sustainable glulam beam framework paired with CLT panels, delivering a robust and efficient solution with minimal environmental impact, aligning with the project’s sustainability goals while providing excellent structural performance.

The foundation system comprises a reinforced concrete raft, chosen to minimise excavation and reduce the carbon footprint of construction. This integrated approach ensures a sustainable and efficient structure that meets both functional and environmental objectives.
